At 7:25, teachers go to the assembly hall to pray, and meanwhile, the students are organized in the school compound in queues. The prayer teachers offer collectively is called Teachers’ Devotion. After the Teachers’ Devotion, the students from the compound are instructed to go to the assembly hall for the morning assembly. Assembly starts with announcing the hoisting of the National Flag and the School Flag, and then all students and teachers sing the National Anthem. Soon after this, a few students come to the stage and share their reflections on the topic assigned to their class. After the reflection, the students’ prayer commences, and then students sing the school Anthem in one voice. Students leave for their classes in an organized manner.
Teachers present themselves in front of the Almighty because, at St. Anthony’s, teachers see their profession as a vocation from God. They remind themselves of their calling every morning as they offer themselves before God. Since it is God’s work they are doing, they present themselves before God.
The school wants to help its students to build a strong personal connection with God, and for this purpose, Students’ Prayer is part of the morning assembly. Starting the day with prayer and connection with God is an integral part of School Culture.
